Ferrara|Buist is excited to announce that we are beginning commercial construction on a new adult day care center on Sardis Road in Charlotte called the Sardis Gardens Adult Day Care.
“This new adult day care center will be a beautiful, functional and fantastic facility for adults who require special attention during the day,” said David Buist, managing partner with Ferrara|Buist. “The new facility will have over 7,000 square feet and room for up to 72 occupants.”
“An adult day care center, also commonly known as adult day services, is a non-residential facility providing activities for elderly and/or handicapped individuals” adds Buist. “Most centers operate 10 – 12 hours per day and provide meals, social/recreational outings, and general supervision.”
Participation in adult day care often prevents re-hospitalizations and may delay admission to residential long term care. For participants who would otherwise stay at home alone, the social stimulation and recreational activities may improve or maintain physical and cognitive function. For caregivers, adult day care centers provide respite care, enabling caregivers to work or to have a break from their care giving responsibilities.
