The Upper Palmetto YMCA’s regional office is located in Rock Hill, SC.  Today, the Upper Palmetto YMCA includes nine branches and Camp Cherokee, a summer resident camp, serving York, Chester, and Lancaster counties.

“At Camp Cherokee, kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, gain independence and make lasting friendships and memories,” added Buist.  “Cabin life also plays an important role in teaching campers to be self reliant, cooperate with others and learn to make decisions while they are away from home.”

Charlotte Commercial Contractor Builds New Camp Cherokee YMCA Project in Kings Mountain

“Established in 1946, Camp Cherokee is for boys and girls ages 6 to 14 and is located in beautiful Kings Mountain State Park,” said David Buist, managing partner with Ferrara|Buist.  “Stemming from our construction projects with the Fort Mill YMCA in the past, we are very excited to be working with the Upper Palmetto YMCA on this mess hall construction project.”

Camp Cherokee just finished their 65th summer camp session.  The camp’s goal continues to be helping everyone reach their potential by building self-esteem, friendships and character in a safe environment.

“An adult day care center, also commonly known as adult day services, is a non-residential facility providing activities for elderly and/or handicapped individuals” adds Buist.  “Most centers operate 10 – 12 hours per day and provide meals, social/recreational outings, and general supervision.”

Participation in adult day care often prevents re-hospitalizations and may delay admission to residential long term care.  For participants who would otherwise stay at home alone, the social stimulation and recreational activities may improve or maintain physical and cognitive function.  For caregivers, adult day care centers provide respite care, enabling caregivers to work or to have a break from their care giving responsibilities.

Charlotte Medical Office Commercial General Contractor Builds New Chiropractor’s Office
